Tips for a Bountiful Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the season of plenty – and a big family feast is the perfect time to share your gratitude and your blessings with those you love. Here are a few tips on making this year’s Thanksgiving holiday especially bountiful.

Décor is More

If there ever was a holiday meal to dress your table for – this is it. Bring out the charger plates, cloth napkins, the good wine glasses and all the silverware. Add a tablecloth or runner and a knock-out centerpiece with color and flourish. Candles will add warmth to your festive table. And you can plus it up even more with name cards at each place setting, special chair covers, or even hand-drawn placemats for everyone.

Salute to the Sides

Some people like to think that the turkey is the main attraction, but what keeps them coming back for more are the side dishes! Now is the time to search for an extra special sweet potato recipe or a scrumptious new way to sauté brussel sprouts. Or, to include everyone who’s invited, ask everyone to bring their favorite side dish and share the bounty.

The Gratitude Attitude

Common family traditions for Thanksgiving include going around the table and having everyone offer something that they’ve been thankful for this past year. Everyone from toddlers to teens to grandparents can enjoy this simple acknowledgement of being grateful – for the family, the fellowship and the feast.
