Quick Labor Day Getaways to say Goodbye to Summer

It’s thought of as the last weekend of the summer. Labor Day means school is about to start or already has. The weather will start getting cooler. And schedules will start getting busier. It’s a last chance to say goodbye to summer with some easy short trip getaway ideas.

Go camping!

There are over 300 national parks to camp in, not to mention endless campgrounds, lakes and beaches that allow camping. While the weather holds, celebrate Labor Day with a last hurrah at your nearest campground and hike all the trails, fish for all the fish, canoe, make s’mores and more.

Go swimming!

Most pools will close after Labor Day, so grab a staycation at the hotel near you with the best pool. Look for swim up bars, poolside foodservice, cabanas, and all the poolside amenities. Or, if you prefer the outdoors, spend the long weekend swimming on your local beach and build sand castles, hunt for shells and pack picnic lunches.

Go sight-seeing!

Spend the weekend in a neighboring city, and pretend you’re a tourist. Visit the museums, shows, galleries and shops. Eat in interesting restaurants, and take any tours that are offered – from ghosts to wineries to birthplaces of famous writers.

Whatever your getaway, celebrate the end of summer in style – and kick off a new school year refreshed and relaxed, knowing you got your last campout, swim day or tour around town in before settling down for fall.
